In Weston MA, paperhanger Bill Archibald was contracted to install this unique, one of a kind, hand crafted wallpaper that was specially made for this small powder room. The cost of the material was astronomical and the care needed to install it was almost beyond belief, for the untrained at least. No paste could touch the surface and because any fold or crease would damage this delicate wallcovering, two people were needed to paste it, carry it, and hang it on the walls. The powder room was four foot by five foot with 7'6" inch ceilings. It was almost comical to have two paperhangers, tools, and a ladder all in this tight area while handling this delicate mural. But these small challenges do make this a rewarding profession. This design may not be everyone's cup of tea, but as the old paperhanger's saying goes, "we don't pick 'em, we only stick 'em". And as always, a small powder room presents an opportunity to install a wallcovering with a little pizzazz that one would notnecessarily place in a dining room or a front entry hall.
